Alfie's Antiques opened its doors in 1979 and was the first of many traders to locate here, beginning a tradition of antiques on the north side of the street which continues today. It has been a rich and fruitful journey which has lead to international acclaim and become a source of pride for the neighbourthood.

We have tried to capture the spirit of these developments by asking the traders to give their impressions of the market and why they developed their trade on the street.
