St Marylebone Charity School was founded in 1750 'for instructing, clothing, qualifying for useful servants, and putting out to apprentice the children of the industrious poor Parishioners'. To begin with it was for children of both sexes, but from 1829 it was restricted to girls. The school closed in 1933, and its records are now held at Westminster City Archives.
