Gemma Bruce Roberts
Out and about in Church Street
By Georgina Colbeck
Gemma Bruce-Roberts, born in London, has lived in the Church Street area for 33 years. Arriving in Church Street in 1977, she brought up all three of her children here, all of whom attended local schools in the area.
Gemma is a familiar face around Church Street, actively taking part in community events and activities. She regularly attends the Church Street Memories Local History Group as well as the library for the monthly Reading Group. A well-known member of the library she is on first name terms with all of the staff.
Through the Church Street Memories Project, she has embraced the opportunity to reminisce about her time living in the Church Street area. Her most vividly remembered memories come from her fondness for the Church Street marketplace and old shops that no longer exist.
